Committee News

During AGHP’s April 30, 2019 Debris Flow and Steep Creek Hazards Committee meeting, Dr. Song Dongri of the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment of the Chinese Academy of Sciences presented “Mechanisms of Debris Flow Impact on Flexible Barrier.”

Planning was finalized for the committee’s workshop in Golden, Colorado at the 7^th International Conference on Debris-Flow Hazards Mitigation Conference which will take place June 10 – 13, 2019.  Make sure you participate in the workshop and also come by their booth and learn more about the committee’s work.

Additionally, the committee announced the formation of four Sub-Committees which will be focused on the following issues areas:

• Numerical Methods (Chair: Marina Pirulli; Italy)
• Physical Modelling (Chair: Chan-Young Yune; Korea)
• Design Standards (Chair: Guillaume Piton; France)
• Field Monitoring (Chair: Gordon Zhou; China)
