69th annual Highway Geology Symposium

The upcoming 69th annual Highway Geology Symposium will be held in Portland Maine, September 10th through September 13th, 2018, at the Holiday Inn By The Bay.  Early full conference registration rates are $350 through July 16, 2018.   Please visit the HGS website for online conference registration and the paper form for download.

There will be a half-day Transportation Research Board workshop before the Symposium on Monday, September 10th. This is an annual event for TRB at the Highway Geology Symposium (HGS). The 2018 TRB Workshop Title is: “Geotechnical Asset Management: Implementation of Programs and Advances in Technology”.  This workshop will explore the implementation of geotechnical asset management (GAM) programs for rock and soil slopes along with other geotechnical assets. Presentations will demonstrate the state of the practice as GAM programs complete research and development phases and move into active use at state and federal agencies.  The session will also include presentations on the active development of remote sensing and other data collection and interpretation methods in support of GAM programs.  The session will include four 30 minute invited presentations followed by a 30 to 45 minute open discussion on the state of GAM practice in the transportation industry. This workshop is sponsored by the Joint Section Subcommittee on Geotechnical Asset Management (AFP00(1)), Standing Committee on Geotechnical Site Characterization (AFP20), and Standing Committee on Engineering Geology (AFP10).
