This program, honoring best-in-class safety development and implementation initiatives within
the geohazard industry, distinguishes companies that foster and employ safe rope access work
procedures, provide education and training to their personnel, and commit to enhancing the
safety culture within their organizations. Criteria for consideration include:
- utilizing the current Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) for our industry (i.e.,
construction, transportation, etc.). TRIR compares the number of OSHA/Healthcare
recordable cases to total rope access hours. - utilizing the current Days Away and Restricted duty/job Transfer case (DART) rate
for our industry. DART rate measures the frequency of workplace serious workplace
injuries or illnesses that impact employees’ ability to perform their normal duties. - minimum score of 80 out of 100 total points in leading and trailing safety indicator categories
(i.e., OSHA/Healthcare cases, training from an accredited third party, Job Risk Assessment
(JRA)/Steep Slope Rope Access (SSRA) forms available before on slope work begins, etc.)
Each applicants’ safety program and performance metrics were reviewed, including TRIR and
DART statistics (OSHA (US)/HealthCare (Canada)). Additionally, management involvement
and commitment to the firm’s safety program, written rope access safety procedures, and
adherence to industry best practices were examined.
“As geohazard professionals, we carry a responsibility not only to deliver technical solutions,
but to safeguard the people who perform the work. Rope access is a powerful tool across many
sectors, from geohazard mitigation to structural and infrastructure inspection, and those who
use it responsibly set the standard for everyone who follows. This year’s honorees have demonstrated exceptional leadership in safety stewardship, and AGHP proudly recognizes the example they continue to set for our industry. Congratulations to the organizations recognized this year, and thank you for your ongoing commitment to safe and responsible rope access work”
